Novelty 2026: Powerful pioneers of the diesel era – the CC 65000 classWith the CC 65000 class (originally type 060-DB), the French State Railways SNCF initiated the transition from steam to diesel operation in the 1950s. The 20 twin-engine diesel-electric locomotives were developed for mixed express passenger and freight services and proved their worth on the non-electrified routes in western France – from Nantes via Tours to Bordeaux and La Rochelle. Built from 1956 and officially designated CC 65001 to 65020 from 1962 onwards, they stood for performance, reliability and modernity.
