Novelty 2026: With the Class 1067, true rarities were in service with ÖBB between 1961 and 1994. Of these electric locomotives, only one prototype and four additional units were built. They featured a technical peculiarity: an electro-hydraulic drive. The electric locomotives built by Jenbacher Werke with a central cab were used in shunting service and could be found in fir green or blood-orange livery. The drive concept, strongly based on diesel locomotives, proved susceptible to defects and damage, which is why production was not continued and locomotive 1067.03, the last active unit, was withdrawn from service on October 1, 1994.
