The class 2095 locomotives procured from 1958 onwards formed the backbone of the ÖBB on the diesel-powered narrow-gauge lines for decades. They were used for passenger and freight transport, especially for rolling stock/rolling wagon transport.
The 2095s were used on the narrow-gauge lines of the Ybbstalbahn, the Bregenzerwaldbahn, the Krimmlerbahn, the Waldviertelbahn, and the so-called "Krumpe". The latter was the now-disused local railway from Ober-Grafendorf to Gresten.
