One of the legendary TEE multiple units made a spectacular comeback in the summer of 1990. Leased by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as a ten-coach train formation, including a spare power car, it operated regularly as InterCity Max Liebermann between Hamburg and Berlin from August 1 to September 29just before the reunification of East and West Germanyfollowing in the footsteps of an equally legendary predecessor. As early as the 1930s, the DRG had established a multiple-unit rail link between these two cities with the Flying Hamburger.
