They were first used by the Prussian State Railways (primarily used to transport the 12 m long rails of the period) so-called rail transport wagons with a load length of 13 m. Eventually built as a "union type" as a rail transporter for the various individual Länderbahnen (region/state railways) between 1911 and 1926 around 1.000 varying examples were constructed. The wagons were originally made with 12 side rungs, low-sided end planking and loading sleepers. The last remaining examples were not taken out of service until the 1970´s, or even still used as track service trucks.
