Brawa

As usual, Brawa had some beautifully detailed modules depicting their never ending attention to detail, allowing for a perfect match with their locomotives and cars. For the modeller who demands exacting details true to the original, it is hard to beat a Brawa model whether locomotive or passenger coach or freight car. Always exceptional pieces.

New Tooling – Locomotives:

This past Fall, we we’re teased with the announcement of the V60 Diesels. The Era III, BR V 60 Diesel is available as DC analog stock # 42400; DCC Extra w/Sound stock # 42402 and the Marklin AC Digital Extra w/Sound, stock # 42403. For 2019, Brawa expands on what seems to be the full range of versions in the range.  The Era IV, DB 261 Diesel is available as DC analog stock # 42404; DCC Extra w/Sound stock # 42406 and the Marklin AC Digital Extra w/Sound, stock # 42407. The Era V, DB AG 362 Diesel is available as DC analog stock # 42408; DCC Extra w/Sound stock # 42410 and the Marklin AC Digital Extra w/Sound, stock # 42411. The Era VI, DB 365 Diesel is available as DC analog stock # 42412; DCC Extra w/Sound stock # 42414 and the Marklin AC Digital Extra w/Sound, stock # 42415.

New Tooling – Coaches:

This year, Brawa chose to do the famouse Silberlinge or 'Silverfish' Coaches true to the original period; true to the original details between each coach and in each coach’s respective interiors. Brawa announces all 4 era’s at once consisting of three distinct coaches and one cab control coach. The Era III are offered without interior lighting in stock #’s 46500; 46501; 46502 and 46503. Coaches offered with interior lighting are stock #’s 46520; 46521; 46522; 46523; and the Marklin AC Digital version 46504. The Era IV are offered without interior lighting in stock #’s 46505; 46506; 46507 and 46508. Coaches offered with interior lighting are stock #’s 46524; 46525; 46526; 46527; and the Marklin AC Digital version 46509. The Era V are offered without interior lighting in stock #’s 46510; 46511; 46512 and 46513. Coaches offered with interior lighting are stock #’s 46528; 46529; 46530; 46531; and the Marklin AC Digital version 46514. The Era VI are offered without interior lighting in stock #’s 46515; 46516; 46517 and 46518. Coaches offered with interior lighting are stock #’s 46532; 46533; 46534; 46535; and the Marklin AC Digital version 46519.

New Tooling – Wagons:

Brawa offers new wagon tooling in the form five piece powder container cars. The Era III DB versions can be found in stock #’s 49131 and 49132. The Era IV DB version is stock # 49135 and there is also a Era IV CSD version stock #49134.

Another new freight car from the DR is the Glmms Covered Freight Car. The Era IV DR versions offer several models; 49900; 49901; 49902; 49905; and 49906. There are two DB Era V versions under stock #’s 49903 and 49907.

Lastly, Brawa offers a new Refrigerator Car. The Era II DRG Version, stock # 47600; Era III, DR Version, stock # 47609; DB Version, stock # 47601; 47610 and the Era IV DB Versions can be found under stock #’s 47603; 47605; 47606; and 47608.  

Other Highlights:

Of course, there is a huge offering of new versions and paint schemes from a variety of coaches; tankers and freight cars. These special paint liveries have been very popular and many cars sell out quickly. As with every year, Brawa offers a selection of Special Edition freight cars, Exclusive Toyfair Cars for Brawa Specialty Dealers in attendance at the fair. Stay tuned for these as we add them to our site in the coming days and weeks. These are always very popular and very limited models.

Bemo

Highlights:

Bemo offered the “MOB – GOLDENPASS PANORAMIC” train in HO gauge. This panoramic train is unique in that there is a Cab Control Panoramic Coach at each end of the train. The Ge 4/4 Electric Locomotive is centre of the four coaches. The DC Locomotive is stock # 1659334 and the DCC w/Sound Locomotive is stock # 1759334. The respective coaches for either locomotive are stock # 3688311; 3688312; 3688313; 3688314; and the interior lighting kits are stock # 6541600. For Marklin AC Digital users, the locomotive is found under stock # 1559334 and the AC Digital w/Sound is stock # 1459334. The AC Coaches will be found under stock #’s; 3588311; 3588312; 3588313; 3588314; and the interior lighting kits are stock # 6545601. Bemo had the Marklin AC Digital version running on a small module layout at the Toyfair. It ran very smooth and quiet on the Marklin C Track layout.

Of course, Bemo offered a number of new versions in locomotives; coaches and freight cars. All teh Bemo 2019 New Items will be posted on our website shortly.

ESU

ESU had quite an extensive array of new offerings from new locomotives to a complete new range of digital accessories; their 5th generation decoders and a new Booster. As such, these areas will be explained in further detail.

New Tooling – Locomotives:

The V60 has been completely retooled with a host of features including digital uncoupling, smoke and 31 functions in DCC. Of course, full metal body and chassis are standard. The Era III DB V60  version is under stock # 31410; Era IV DB 260 version (Blue/Crème) is under stock # 31411; Era III DB 260 version (old Red) is under stock # 31414; Era VI DB 362 version is under stock # 31412;   Era VI DGT 362 version is under stock # 31418.

New Tooling – Digital Accessories:

ESU has announced a new booster, 7amp multi-protocol booster. The ECoSBoost is the ideal extention for your ECoS or Central Station®, if you need more continuous-load output. The ECoSBoost is able to output DCC, Motorola®, Selectrix® and mfx®, depending on your command station. A RailCom® and mfx-feedback device is integrated. The unit comes with a 120-240V power supply. One only needs the correct end cord adapter. You can find this under stock # ESU-50012.

ESU has announced its new Generation 5 Series Decoders. Finally, a sound decoder that delivers true Hi-Fi Sound which can play up to 10 channels simultaneously and of course comes with a host of other features.

LokSound DCC Direct Decoder - With its unique design the LokSound 5 Direct DCC can easily replace boards that provide poor motor control, low volume, or generally inferior sound. Not only will the decoder work fine with most factory installed speakers, but it will sound even better with our new 11x15mm“sugar cube” speaker and sound enclosure kits. . The LokSound 5 DCC is made for the North American and Australian markets. It is a pure DCC Decoder, which supports RailComPlus and can also be used on DC layouts. With its size of 0.67x2.72inch/17x69mm. The V5 Direct DCC will fit in almost all of the popular North American and Australian HO manufacturers locomotives. Its new blank decoder can be found under stock # ESU 58821.

LokSound 5 Decoders - The LokSound 5 is the most important member of the LokSound family. Due to the combination of the digital decoder and the sound module on one circuit board we achieve the smallest possible dimensions of 30 mm x 15.5 mm. They will fit into almost any H0 or 0 gauge locomotive. LokSound 5 decoders are available with all popular interface types and are supplied with a sugar cube speaker (11 mm x 15 mm) and a sound enclosure. They come in all popular interfaces and can be found in the following blank decoders; Stock # ESU-58410; ESU-58412; ESU-58416; ESU-58419; ESU-58420; ESU-58410; ESU-58429; and ESU-58449. These are scheduled for release in 3rd quarter of 2019.

LokSound 5 micro / LokSound 5 micro DCC - The LokSound 5 micro is a "little wonder": With only 21mmx10mm footprint, it is by far the smallest LokSound decoder ESU has ever built. Due to its very compact size, it should fit into almost all N scale, TT and even some HO smaller type locomotives as well.  Same rich features as described in previous 5 series sound decoders. They come in all popular interfaces and can be found in the following blank decoders; Stock # ESU-58810; ESU-58814; ESU-58816; ESU-58818; ESU-58820; and ESU-58828. These are scheduled for release in October of 2019.

LokSound 5L and LokSound 5l DCC - LokSound 5 L is intended for use in all applications where the required power exceeds the limits of LokSound 5.  Ideally these are 0 gauge vehicles and also smaller 1 gauge locomotives. Despite its compact dimensions of only 50.8 mm x 25.4 mm x 14 mm it is equipped with a dual speaker output and integral PowerPack. The LokSound 5 is equipped with a multi-pin connector and is supplied ex works with an adapter board featuring solder pads. Two blank decoders are offered; ESU-58315 and ESU-58325. These will be available for special order in May, 2019.

LokSound 5 XL - The ESU-58315/ESU-58313 LokSound 5 XL decoder is intended for use in large scale model railways, e.g. garden railways and 1 gauge models. Its integral PowerPack matching the increased motor power assures reliable operation even on dirty tracks. The LokSound 5 XL measures 51 mm x 40 mm and is available in two different types: Besides the type with robust screw type terminals for installation in older models without an interface socket, there is a version with multi-pin connectors. This version fits into all locomotives where an older type LokSound XL decoder has been installed previously.

Piko

This year marks the 70 Year Anniversary. On June 22, 2019, Piko will open its doors for those who wish to make a visit to their factory.

New Tooling – Locomotives:

• Piko was the first one to announce the new DB AG BR 412 ICE 4 4 piece set. Availability is most likely July 2019. The DC Model can be found under stock # PK-51400. Extension Car sets for this version can be found under Stock # PK-58590 and PK-58592. The AC Marklin Digital Version can be found under stock # PK-51401. Extension Car sets for this version can be found under Stock # PK-58591 and PK-58593.
  
  
• Piko is also building the Hungarian MAV M62 Diesel Locomotive. These will be highly detailed and of course come with Piko’s 5 pole motor and dual flywheels. Full interior cab, engine room and lighting included. This can be found under stock # Pk-52810.
  
  
• Piko is also building the CSD T679 Diesel Locomotive. These will be highly detailed and of course come with Piko’s 5 pole motor and dual flywheels. Full interior cab, engine room and lighting included. This can be found under stock # Pk-52811.
  
  
• Piko is building the Polish SU46 Era IV Diesel Locomotive. It will be offered in DC under stock # PK-52860; AC Digital version under stock # PK-52861; DCC w/Sound under stock # PK-52862 and for Marklin AC Digital w/Sound, stock # PK-52863
  
  
• A big surprise was that Piko will now be offering its track system with a realistic built-in roadbed and it will be released in April of this year! Please see our Piko 2019 new items list as there are to many stock #’s to list for this newsletter.
