Marklin Transformer Upgrade – Exchange Program

Marklin Germany has recently launched an Transformer upgrade program for their European customers. This upgrade program provides customers with the latest transformers which are more suited to the recent switch in European standards from 220v to 230v power and also meet the latest safety regulations.

While the 220v to 230v change does not affect North American customers, Marklin USA is also offering an highly discounted upgrade program for their customers to upgrade to the latest safety technology. The latest Marklin transformers incorporate changes that address a potentially dangerous situation: If the ground socket/terminal from a transformer is connected to the ground socket/terminal of a second transformer, harmful 120v household current may be present in the plug on the power cord of the second transformer, when this cord is unplugged from the wall outlet. This applies to all transformers with AC voltage outputs.

In order to remove this potential danger, Marklin is the only manufacturer to use a patented circuit, which prevents this reverse transformation and has already been installing this new safety technology in its transformers to protect consumers long before the new regulations generated by the European standardization.

All starter sets with the Mobile Station from 2004 on already have transformers with the current safety technology. Please keep in mind that a transformer is an essential safety element and that we highly recommend that it should be brought up to current safety standards.

Below are the details on how this will work.

Qualifying Transformers;

1. Transformer can be one of the following and must be in working order.
2. The analog 6627 and 6667 can be exchanged for the 6646 analog transformer.
3. The digital 6001 can be exchanged for the 60055 digital transformer.
4. No other former transformers apply.

Procedure:

1. In the Marklin section of our web site, order the exchange stock number that applies to you; 6627Ex; 6667Ex; or 6001Ex. These prices represent a 50-60% discount over our regular low prices.
   
2. Submit your order at which time you will be invoiced for the replacement.
3. Package your transformers in proper packaging and mail them via US Mail or Canada Post (regular parcel, shipping via courier services such as FedEx will not be reimbursed) to Marklin USA at the following address. Local customers may drop their transformers off at our store.

   Please include your name, address  and phone number along with our name (Euro Rail Hobbies and More Inc.) inside your package in order that Marklin USA can confirm allocation and reimburse you for your shipping costs.
   
4. As Marklin receives sufficient batches to process, they will in turn forward the replacements back to us.
   
5. As we receive them, we will then forward them on to the customer and charge the  related shipping cost. Your total cost will be the exchange cost plus the cost of shipping the new transformer to you.
